Servant Leader Training in PerĂº

On Saturday, March 6th. John Hendee launched the new Servant Leader Training for the church leaders in the barrio and city churches. One hundred and fifty attended - more than expected! They were served lunch and John taught for several hours on the subject of Growth and God’s Discipline for John 15, Jesus’ parable of the vine and the branches. Mike thought it was a great beginning, and John felt like it went well.

Next month, on April 10, I will be teaching on the Inner Formation of the Servant Leader. Paul’s desire for the early disciples is that Christ be formed in them. He used the word transformed - changed from the inside-out - to describe the supernatural work of God in our inner person. How is Christ formed in us?

  • By Reflecting His Heart - Learning to love God through prayer and praise and love our neighbor through developing a big heart By Reflecting His Mind - Learning to absorb the Word and speak with His authority.
  • By Reflecting His Spirit - Learning to walk in the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
  • By Reflecting His Hands and Feet - Learning to use our gifts to dispense Jesus' grace.
  • By Reflecting His Body - Learning to love and serve the church, Christ's body, to function as a loving and healthy community, as we disciple the nations.
This teaching is intended to be a discipleship 101 type instruction with the hope that it is practical and transferable. Our hope is that Peruvian believers can take the training and share it with others easily.

So I am anxious to experience my first Servant Leader Training. Thank you for remembering me between now and then. I will write about it next month.

His Servant,

Tim Coop

Changing lives all over Trujillo

Greetings from Trujillo. We continue to praise God for the blessings he gives us and the ability he gives us to do his work here in Peru. It is amazing to think that it was four years ago we started this journey to share God’s love with the people of Peru!
We are starting to see fruit from the work that we started. We have been training the leaders in the barrios on how to evangelize through the Peace Treaty. Last month the leaders that live in one of our barrios, Alto Trujillo 4A, had 5 baptisms that were a result of their hard work of evangelizing. One of our goals is to empower people in how to share their faith.
This weekend we had something incredible happen, for the first time we had 23 baptisms! We are praying that this will be an every weekend thing. With the hard work of our team we believe this will become a reality! One of the baptisms that we had the privileged of doing is one of our Hope 4 Kids supervisors. We have been praying and waiting for this the entire four years! We even had a certificate made up for her 4 years ago. It is awesome being a part of what God is doing here in Trujillo. We are witnessing peoples’ lives changing and these people are being trained to be ambassador for Jesus.
We praise God for the changing of lives and hearts and we give thanks for your continued prayers and support!

Dios Bendiga!

It certainly has been busy since the start of the New Year. Let me get you caught up on what has been happening. On February 5th we held our Big Sister meeting in Chandler, Arizona. Big Sisters are congregations which are the major supporters of Project New Hope International and our work in Peru. Each of them gives from $1000 to $3000 a month to support our team in Peru. 95% of their giving goes to the field.

They have been with us since the start. They have gone through the victories and the difficult times with us. Most all of them send teams to Peru to work in the barrios and in the city. They face their own challenges in their local works too, but those haven't stopped them from their commitments with us in Peru.

They came from Arizona, California, Washington, Idaho, and New Mexico.

We really appreciate the partnership we have with these churches/people. They give, they travel, they serve and they contribute to a great work that is being developed in Peru.

Last year was a tough year. You know all about that. BUT this year is going to be a great year. We are back on track. We have rebuilt our team. We have not given up. We have not thrown the towel in.

Now is not the time to look back , but to look forward. There is a job to be done. There is a team in PerĂº and the U.S. to get it done. We will keep giving, serving, and doing whatever till it is done.

Thanks to all who made a special effort to join us at the meeting. It was a great day!

God bless you all!
In Him
John
